What can we help you find?

Web Governance

Web governance helps keep the site accurate, accessible, consistent, and easy to use. These guidelines explain how we manage public web content and how departments can help maintain a strong digital presence.

Guiding Principles

  • Make content accessible – Web content must meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards, including structured headings, descriptive links, readable tables, and useful alt text.
  • Maintain clear ownership – Every web page should have a content owner responsible for reviewing information, requesting updates, and keeping it current.
  • Review content regularly – Outdated content confuses users and erodes trust. Pages, links, PDFs, forms, dates, and contact information should be reviewed regularly.
  • Put users first – The website should be organized around what users need to know and do. Strong web content answers real questions, reduces confusion, and helps users complete tasks.
  • Use a single source of truth – Important information should live in one primary location whenever possible. Other pages should link to that source rather than duplicate the content.

Roles and Responsibilities

Web governance is a shared responsibility between the Marketing Office and campus content owners.

Content Standards

FLCC web content should be clear, useful, up to date, and follow our brand guidelines

Social Media Policy

Official FLCC social media accounts are managed or approved by the Marketing Office. Departments, programs, clubs, and offices should consult the Marketing Office before creating a new account representing the college. View Social Media Policy.

Domain Names and Web Addresses

Consistent web addresses help visitors know they're in the right place and keep our sites secure and easy to find. In most cases, public-facing content belongs on flcc.edu. Content on the main site is automatically secure, accessible, mobile-friendly, and on-brand. It also benefits from site search, analytics, and regular content review.

All FLCC domains belong to the College, regardless of which office requested them. Departments, programs, events, initiatives, and grant-funded projects should not independently purchase or register domains that represent FLCC or College-affiliated work.

A separate domain may be considered when there's a clear strategic need. This may include a major partnership, an extended campaign, a grant-funded initiative, or a public project that genuinely requires its own distinct presence.

Need a short, memorable address? A friendly URL like flcc.edu/visit is easy to set up, keeps visitors on our main site, and, in most cases, is a better option than a new domain.
