Mosaic Collective

The Finger Lakes Mosaic Collective offers high school seniors the chance to come to campus, work on real-world projects sponsored by local businesses, and take college courses.

Career-Connected Learning for High School Seniors

Program Overview

The Mosaic Collective gives students real learning experiences that build problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills while helping local businesses with important projects.

The Mosaic Experience

FLCC Mosaic Collective student showcases the learning experience.
Through this program, I learned I am capable of handling real responsibilities and meeting professional expectations. Traditional classrooms measure performance mostly through tests and homework, but this experience showed me how I perform in more realistic, professional settings.

Kadyn Gamble

Kadyn is a senior at Romulus Central School District interested in joining the military after high school.
FLCC Mosaic Collective student working on a project.
I realized that being capable wasn't the same as being disciplined. I could do the work, but constantly managing my time, staying ahead, and balancing responsibilities required a new level of self-control, especially knowing that our projects impacted real businesses.

Wyatt Decann

Wyatt is a senior at Red Jacket High School interested in art, architecture, history, and preservation.

What makes Mosaic different is that the work doesn't stay in the classroom. The projects connect directly to real organizations and real people in our community. Through Mosaic, I've built a website for Philips Grant Writing Services, created training tools for Bridge for Brain Injury, and more.

Carleigh Stramonine

Carleigh is a senior at Canandaigua Academy interested in social work and business.

Both business partners and students benefit from collaborating on real-world projects. Here's how:

  • Associates bring new ideas and creativity to each project.
  • Projects are meant to challenge students, but mentors are there to help them succeed.
  • Business mentors give important context, feedback, and encouragement throughout the projects.
  • Projects produce real deliverables that our business partners use.
  • Associates build confidence, professional skills, and self-awareness.
  • What a project partner provides:

    • A real project that usually lasts 6 to 10 weeks, which we can design together with you.
    • A main contact person for the kickoff, regular check-ins, and the final presentation.
    • Actionable feedback on project work at key stages.
    • Attend the final presentation, either on Zoom or in person.

    What Mosaic handles:

    • Project scoping and planning.
    • Timeline creation and weekly supervision.
