EMS 251 - Paramedic Refresher
This New York State approved Paramedic Refresher course meets NYSDOH Bureau of EMS continuing education requirements for Paramedic recertification. It reviews the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective competencies essential to advanced life support practice. Aligned with the National EMS Education Standards and NYSDOH curriculum, the course covers patient assessment, airway management, cardiology, trauma, medical emergencies, pharmacology, special populations, and EMS operations, incorporating current protocols and evidence-based practice. Through didactic instruction, case review, skills practice, and scenario-based training, participants strengthen clinical decision-making. Successful completion qualifies students for the New York State Paramedic Practical Skills and Written Certification Exams and may satisfy renewal requirements for expired certifications. Intended for current and expired NYS Paramedics. Credit awarded once. Prerequisite: 1. Proof of certification as a NYS Paramedic (expired or active) 2. Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification; 3. Permission of Instructor.
