Noyce INSPIRE
The Noyce INSPIRE (Inspire Scholars to Practice in Rural Environments) program is a partnership between FLCC and St. John Fisher College. At FLCC, students will have the opportunity to join a Future Educators Club and participate in trainings tailored to rural and trauma-sensitive teaching practice.
Noyce INSPIRE Scholarship
If you plan on pursuing a degree in a STEM field with the goal of teaching, we urge you to apply. If you are selected, you will receive a scholarship of up to $21,750 per year during your junior and senior year at St. John Fisher.
Partnership Districts
INSPIRE Scholars will be placed in one of the following school districts for student teaching and observation. Each individual district will ensure that teachers have the resources and support.
- Geneva
- North Rose Wolcott
- Penn Yan
- Sodus
Eligibility
You can apply for the scholarship if you:
- Are a current U.S. citizen, permanent resident, national, or refugee
- Are enrolled in a full-time associate program and plan to transfer into a STEM discipline with Inclusive Adolescent Education major and the NY State Liberal Arts Content Requirement
- Have a GPA of at least 2.80 or higher in science and education courses at the time of application
Requirements
Noyce INSPIRE Scholars are required to:
- Enroll in a bachelor's program in a STEM discipline with an inclusive adolescent education major and the NY State Liberal Arts Content Requirement.
- Work in a high-need school district for two years for each year of the scholarship received, within eight years of program completion.
- Participate in support and enrichment activities, including:
- Attending a regional conference as described in the teacher preparation program
- Engaging with a teacher mentor within partner high-need districts
- Coaching by program PI and Co-PIs during the induction year
- Offering feedback on professional development during and after program completion
- Provide verification of fulfillment of the teaching service requirement
- Join Finger Lakes ACEs Connection, a collaborative network that promotes trauma-informed and resilience-building practices and policies in all communities and institutions.

Apply for the Noyce INSPIRE Scholarship
To apply, visit St. John Fisher's Noyce INSPIRE web page. The application deadline is February 15 of each year, 2020-2024. Finalists will be contacted for an interview in late March. Recipients will be notified no later than April 15.
