Closing Reception: Mapping Landscape on Satterly Hill

Thursday, October 08, 2026

4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

This event marks the close of an exhibit at FLCC's downtown gallery.

ArtSpace36 will hold a closing reception for an exhibit by Richard Metzgar, professor of 2D and 3D design at SUNY Oswego, on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The event includes a talk by the artist and refreshments. It is free and open to the public.

Richard's art practice investigates the interrelated topics of place, time, history, mapping, and spatiality, with a focus on collaborative projects. He has worked extensively with artist Paul Bartow, as the team Bartow + Metzgar since 1999, creating large-scale, multi-media installations in the U.S. and Canada. A current, multi-year project (2015-present) centers on a mapping of the Erie Canal and connected waterways through human and nonhuman drawing.

ArtSpace36 is located at 36 S. Main St., Canandaigua. It shares space with Gallery 32, operated by the Ontario County Arts Council.

Hours for both galleries are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
