Regardless of one’s political orientation or ideological convictions, acts of violence are both unconscionable and antithetical to the values we strive to uphold as a scholarly and humane community. Moments like this compel us to reaffirm the sanctity of human life and to reflect on the fundamental principles of compassion, justice, and mutual respect that must guide our civic and intellectual engagement. In this spirit, we invite all members of our campus community to join us for a community gathering dedicated to examining the state of civil discourse in light of the current national climate and tragic death of Charlie Kirk. This convening will serve as a space for collective reflection, constructive dialogue, and recommitment to the shared values that undergird our academic mission as an institution of higher learning.
