Queerly Sacred: Negotiating Queer and Religious Identities
Thursday, November 20, 2025
This event will explore how queer people who identify as religious navigate these identities.
Through stories and perspectives from across faith traditions, the conversation will examine how queer people have responded within their religious communities and offer strategies, tips and resources for participants to support themselves or others in these spaces.
The event will feature Dr. Jimmy Hamill (he/him), associate professor of writing and first-year studies at Stockton University. Dr. Hamill’s research, informed by his own experiences, focuses on how LGBTQIA+ Catholics tell stories in and beyond the Church to make sense of their identities. When he’s not in the classroom, Dr. Hamill enjoys watching Survivor, The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula and the 1990s animated Superman series.
