The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide and 3 locations in our region, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. We are looking for volunteers to help us with our Finger Lakes Walk to End Alzheimer's - held at FLCC in 2024! Blood Drive- Greet donors at blood drives, coordinate registration, serve refreshments & observe donors well-being following donations. Also opportunities to help market & recruit for campus blood drives. Community Preparedness- Learn what Red Cross Ready is & take that out to local community groups so they too may be prepared for any type of disasters. Disaster Action Team- Respond to local disaster incidents such as fires, floods, & ice storms. Take advanced training & respond to national emergencies. Canandaigua VA Medical Center
There are various individual and group volunteer opportunities, including friendly visits, clerical assignments, recreational activities/programs, escorting Veterans to appointments, events, etc. Before you can begin to volunteer, you must attend a required orientation that lasts approximately 1½ hours, complete paperwork, and have a background check (be fingerprinted). Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes - Community Lunch Program
Volunteer work hours are Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meals are served 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tasks include all phases of set-up, prep, serving, and cleanup; we serve a nutritious hot meal every weekday, holidays included. Extra hands are especially appreciated from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Meals are served at First United Methodist Church, 340 Main St., Geneva, NY 14456. (Updated 1/2024)

Connections Rounded Recovery in Canandaigua, New York, offers various volunteer opportunities to support individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. Volunteers can become Certified Recovery Peer Advocates, lead health and wellness classes, or conduct educational workshops. They can also facilitate support groups, help with event planning, and provide administrative support. Embrace Your Sisters
Embrace Your Sisters (EYS) fills a unique niche in breast cancer services by providing short-term emergency financial assistance to residents of 13 counties in the Finger Lakes Region, including Allegany, Cayuga, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year in conjunction with our fundraising events, which include Tea for Two Fashion Show in the spring and The Positively Pink in Pittsford Breast Cancer Walk in the fall.
