Academic Dismissal Appeal

Important Dates/Deadlines:

We are presently accepting appeals for spring 2015 ONLY

  1. Students dismissed at the close of the fall 2014 term (receiving e-mails the week of January 5, 2015) have until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 to submit their appeals.  Students submitting appeals within this time frame will receive responses at their college e-mail address no later than January 20, 2015.  Appeals submitted after this time WILL NOT be reviewed by the Committee on Academic Standing.
  2. Students dismissed prior to the fall 2014 term seeking readmission for spring 2015, whose period of leave has ended, should file appeals no later than January 14, 2015.  Appeals received after this time may not be reviewed or responded to promptly. 

This form should be completed by individuals seeking to return to FLCC following a period of academic dismissal. Most academic dismissals are for one year (fall and spring semesters) and students can appeal their dismissal as noted above. Please refer to your original dismissal letter(s) to determine for which semester you should request to return. Students may only appeal an academic dismissal once before being required to fulfill their stated leave.

Successful academic appeals nearly always include supporting documentation of extenuating (outside of one's control) circumstances.  Students are highly encouraged, but not required, to submit supporting documentation such as hospital/medical records, court documents, repair/replacement bills, and letters of support from faculty or staff at the College.  Documentation must be received no later than the dates and/or times mentioned above and should be forwarded immediately. The College must certify that an approval of an Academic Dismissal Appeal is in your best interest.

According to College policy, only students affected by extenuating circumstances (e.g. - illness, injury, medical reasons) are eligible for an appeal of their academic dismissal within one year (two semesters) of their first dismissal. Please complete this form and submit any/all supporting documentation of your claims. It is important to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in writing your appeal. You may send additional materials and documentation to the address above.

Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that if my Academic Dismissal Appeal is approved, I must meet the Academic Standards and/or Academic Regulations at the end of my first semester return to FLCC, and I will be required to comply with any conditions set by the Committee on Academic Standing and/or Director of Community Standards.  I acknowledge that only one appeal may be filed/considered for each dismissal and that the decision of the Committee on Academic Standing and/or Director of Community Standards is final.
