DESCRIPTION:The film is based on a play that exposes the ugly, true story of the infamous Tuskegee Syphilis Study. For 40 years, the U.S. government exploited impoverished Black men in a secret experiment, withholding lifesaving treatment under the guise of free healthcare. Following the film, there will be open discussion considering the severe ethical breaches of this study and its lasting implications for current biomedical research. We will also consider how this study has affected trust in both medicine and research. This event is open to all.
