Advanced Manufacturing Machinist Training
Searching for a career path? Join the exciting world of advanced manufacturing! Well-paying high-tech jobs in our area are waiting for skilled employees. This six-month program, offered in partnership with G.W. Lisk, prepares students for immediate employment by obtaining middle-skills training to become machinists on the way to a successful career in advanced manufacturing. The program will focus on developing skills in safe operation of machine tools such as lathes, mills, grinders and drill presses, with an emphasis on setting up and running CNC machines and precision measuring equipment.
Course content includes:
- Technical Math
- Geometric Dimensioning
- Machine Shop Safety
- Engineering Drawing
- Lab Instruction
- CNC Mill and Lathe
Starting hourly wage for an entry-level employee as a machinist is $13 to $15. You may start at a higher rate if you demonstrate advanced machining skills after completing the program.

- Be 18 years old
- Have high school diploma or GED
- Have a valid NYS driver’s license
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Pass a drug screen
- A mandatory orientation for new students entering the program in the spring 2017 semester is on January 17, 2017 at 9 am.
