Returning Students Scholarships and Criteria
A returning student is one who is currently enrolled at FLCC, has completed at least one semester at the College, and will be enrolled at FLCC for the 2007-2008 academic year.

GENERAL INTEREST SCHOLARSHIPS
Gary Adams Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Full-time, female student enrolled in curriculum leading to a career in which women have historically been under-represented
- Attended a high school in Ontario, Yates, Seneca, Wayne, Livingston, Steuben, or Schuyler county (identify which one in essay)
Association for Women at Finger Lakes Community College (AWFLCC) Scholarship
Amount: $500 full-time (1) / $250 part-time (1)
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Female student
- Completion of at least 12 credits at time of application
- Demonstrates financial need AND financial independence from family other than spouse
- 2 letters of reference are required from individuals not related to the student; at least one of the letters from FLCC faculty or staff
Dr. Ina Sue Brown Memorial Scholarship
Amount: Cost of one three-credit hour course
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Current part-time student
- Completion of at least nine credit hours at time of application
- Demonstrates academic and professional goals in essay
- Demonstrates financial need
Donald and Jean Burgan Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Minimum GPA: 2.7
- Completion of at least one semester at time of application
- Provides evidence of volunteer community involvement such as church, scouting, fund-raising, or college organizations
Dr. Rebecca Burgess Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Female student
- Demonstrates academic excellence
- Essay must address financial need; use essay to explain commitment to women’s rights; include description of completed projects or specific experiences
- Two scholarship recommendation forms required
Kenneth A. Carlton, Sr. Disabled American Veterans Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Honorably discharged disabled American veteran or descendant OR honorably discharged American veteran or descendant
- Demonstrates financial need
- Contact your local VA office to request a copy of Form DD214, page 4. Applicants must provide this page. If descendant of a veteran, must attach to Form DD214 a statement indicating relationship to veteran and have statement signed by veteran
John and Peggy Champaigne Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Completion of six hours in developmental studies course work
- Demonstrates significant growth academically and socially
Ed & Gerry Cuony Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Preference to residents of Geneva, NY
- Preference to graduates of Geneva or DeSales High School
- Preference to students who have completed a minimum of 9 credits of coursework at the FLCC Geneva Center
- Use essay to describe activities and circumstances that demonstrate any or all of the following personal qualities: citizenship, patriotism, teamwork, commitment
FLCC Alumni Association Adult Excellence Scholarship
Amount: $2,000 (over two years)
- Minimum GPA: 3.4
- Students must be 24 years old or be married, or have a child
- Demonstrates involvement in one or more college, community service/athletic activities
- Minimum 3.4 GPA must be maintained through graduation and student must be transferring to a four-year college to receive the second year’s $1,000 disbursement
FLCC Alumni Association Scholarship
Amount: $500 Full-time student
- Minimum GPA: 3.4
- Involved in one or more of the following: student activities, athletics, or community service (exclusive of practicum requirements)
FLCC Alumni Association Scholarship
Amount: $250 Part-time student
- Minimum GPA: 3.4
- Part-time student who has completed minimum of 32 credits at FLCC at time of application
- Involved in one or more of the following: student activities, athletics, or community service (exclusive of practicum requirements)
FLCC President's Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 3.25
- Full-time student who has completed at least one full-time semester at time of application
- Demonstrates FLCC involvement in extracurricular activity, other than athletics, preferably in a leadership capacity
- Demonstrates outstanding oral and written skills
- Selected by College President; Must be available for interview.
CCFL Storefront Pioneers Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Involved in College activities or community service (exclusive of practicum requirements)
- Demonstrates financial need
- Essay must address involvement community/college activities and goals for the future
Geneva Campus Center Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Full- or part-time student who has completed at least 12 credits at the Geneva Center
- Any major
Ann Hamilton Memorial Scholarship
Amounts vary
- Student in any major who has been enrolled developmental reading and writing classes
Charlotte B. Munson Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Demonstrates interest in public service and/or the political process
Phi Theta Kappa Academic Incentive Award
Amount: $250 Full-time / $125 Part-time
- GPA between 3.3 and 3.49
- Minimum 30 credits completed
- Involved in college or community service club or activity
Road Service, Inc. Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Major: business or nursing
- Full-time adult student who is a single parent
S & S Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: hotel and resort management, conservation, or horticulture
- Canandaigua Academy high school graduate
- Preference given to a veteran and to a student demonstrating financial need
SUNY Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarship
Amount varies
- Student enrolled in degree program
- US citizen; New York State resident
- GPA reflects high academic achievement
- Essay content must demonstrate how student has overcome a disadvantage or impediment to pursuit of a higher education

Carol Scharett Memorial Scholarship

Broccolo Tree and Lawncare Horticulture Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: horticulture
- Full- or part-time FLCC student who demonstrates academic achievement and experience or interest in the field
- Must be available for 10 week paid internship
Herbert Bradburn Collins Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
- Major: A.A.S. in natural resources conservation; A.S. with plans to transfer to environmental-conservation field; or A.A.S. in ornamental horticulture
- Demonstrates commitment to the environmental conservation or horticulture field
- Demonstrates academic success and financial need
- Two reference letters required
IPM & Plant Health Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Demonstrates academic success and commitment to the promotion of sound environmentally-based IPM practices using concrete examples from the student’s education, experiences, and/or public outreach.
- Student must submit a resume or be available for an interview
- Resume/essay must address one or more of the following: importance of plant pathology, professional goals for preservation of trees and landscape, scientific background or intent.
Ontario County Master Gardeners Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 2.75
- Ontario County resident
- Full- or part-time student matriculated in the horticulture degree program
- Essay must address student’s motivation for pursuing this degree
Seneca Landscapes Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: horticulture
- Full- or part-time FLCC student who is currently employed in the horticulture industry or working an some other occupation, business or industry
- Demonstrates academic success and financial need

- Major: liberal arts
- Female returning to college
- Essay must address financial need and career goals
Alice C. Southgate Home Bureau Scholarship
Amount: $300
- Minimum GPA: 2.5
- Major: preference to a student in human services program; nursing majors will also be considered
- United States citizen, residing in Yates or Monroe county (only local counties with a chapter of Home Bureau)
- Demonstrates financial need
- Demonstrates interest and commitment to home, community, citizenship and human service
MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIP

- Minimum GPA: 2.0
- Major: related to mathematics or computing sciences
- Full-time female student
- Preference to a single parent beginning or returning to her education (use essay to explain)
NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS
Mr. and Mrs. Elwood A. (Emma) Garner Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Major: nursing, enrolled in Nursing 101 at time of application
- Demonstrates clinical proficiency and dedication to the nursing profession
- Make a statement of financial need in essay
Mona Horne Memorial Nursing Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: nursing
- Preference given to full-time adult student
- Minimum one year of experience in the health care field
Frances F. MacLeod Legacy Scholarship
Amount: full-time tuition cost
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Major: currently in pre-nursing program, intending to enroll full-time for the following year
- Essay must address financial need and include a personal statement regarding student's reason for choosing a nursing career.

- Major: engineering science; mechanical technology: architectural design and drafting; mechanical design and drafting; or liberal arts& sciences with area of study in physics or chemistry

Massage Therapy Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Major: therapeutic massage, enrolled in Shiatsu I at time of application
- Demonstrates clinical proficiency and dedication to the profession of massage therapy
- Essay must address financial need
Melissa Young (Hawk Child Wandering) Massage Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: therapeutic massage
- Main consideration for selection: student has undergone great challenges pursuing his/her degree at FLCC (e.g. death in the family, divorce, loss of job)
- Secondary considerations: GPA and financial need
TOURISM SCHOLARSHIP
A Finger Lakes Visitors Connection, Ontario County, NY Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Major: hotel & resort management, sports & tourism, or tourism management
- Preference to a student from the Finger Lakes region
- REQUIRED ESSAY: 250 word essay addressing the key concepts of what you have learned during your first year or semester of study. Include any practical experience you have gained through internships or work in tourism.
VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
Catherine J. Kamm Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $500
- Minimum GPA: 3.0
- Taking at least one course in vocal music at FLCC
- Demonstrates financial need
