INCOMING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

An incoming student is someone who entered Finger Lakes Community College for the first time for the spring 2007 semester or who will enter for the first time for the fall 2007 semester.

GENERAL INTEREST SCHOLARSHIPS

Alton B. Corbit Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 (over two years)

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Minimum B average
  • Outstanding potential and academic ability
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 for second year renewal

FLCC Alumni Association Excellence Scholarship - Traditional-Aged Freshman

Amount: $2,000 (over two years)

  • Entering, traditional-aged, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Evidence of being an exceptional student
  • Involvement in one or more community service or athletic activities the year prior to applying
  • Minimum GPA 3.4 for second year renewal
  • Willing to be highlighted in alumni publication

FLCC Alumni Association Regional Freshman Scholarship (2)

Amount: $500

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • A resident of Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, or Yates counties
  • Potential for academic success
  • Involvement in one or more community service or athletic activities the year prior to applying
  • Address financial need in essay

FLCC Board of Trustees Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

  • Entering full-time freshman
  • Graduate of an Ontario County high school
  • Essay must refer to volunteer or community service activities or experience in student government as well as to financial need
  • Minimum B/85% high school GPA

Garlock Sealing Technologies Scholarship

Amounts vary

  • Full-time incoming student matriculated in any degree program
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have a parent, guardian, or grandparent
    who is an employee at or retiree from Garlock
  • Applicants must use a portion of the essay to discuss their financial need   

The Michaels Family Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $250

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Graduate of Geneva High School
  • Potential for academic success
  • Refer to community involvement and work experience in the essay

New York Firefighters Foundation Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Given to dependents and immediate family members of New York firefighters who have been disabled or killed in the line of duty
  • Use essay to discuss your situation.

Kenneth A. Poormon '97 Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Given to dependents and immediate family members of New York law enforcement officers disabled or killed in the line of duty

SUNY Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarship

Amounts vary

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Minority (African-American, Alaskan-American, Latin-American, or Native- American)
  • Refer to your heritage in the essay
  • New York State resident
  • Demonstrates high academic achievement

ADULT STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Those scholarships listed which mention the term "Adult Student" refer to the awards for applicants who have been away from the high school setting for several years. Although we consider all students who enter Finger Lakes Community College to be adults, these scholarships address the needs of students who have a high school diploma or the equivalent but have not recently been a student in a high school or college/university setting.

Charlotte Cowie Memorial Scholarship - Adult Freshman

Amount: $900

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Adult student, starting a new chapter in life by attending FLCC

Finger Lakes Development Center for Business Scholarship - Adult Freshman

Amount: $1,000 (over two years)

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Interested in pursuing business career (specify in essay)
  • Minimum GPA 3.3 for second year renewal

BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

Joanne Glover Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Administrative Assistant major (studying to be an executive secretary)
  • Full-time female student
  • Minimum B average
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Graduate of any Ontario County high school

CONSERVATION SCHOLARSHIPS

New York State Conservation Officers Association Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • New York State resident
  • Planning to pursue career as a conservation officer
  • Minimum B+ average

Amy Steverson Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Preference to residents of Seneca, Ontario, or Yates counties
  • Conservation major
  • Evidence of school and/or community service
  • Demonstrates financial need

HUMAN SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP

Bowen Family Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 (over two years)

  • Entering, full-time freshman with preference given to a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School in Geneva , NY . A Geneva High School graduate will be selected if there are no eligible DeSales applicants.
  • Human Services major with career plans in nursing, education, social services etc.
  • Address financial need in essay
  • Minimum B average for second year renewal

NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS

Frances F. MacLeod Freshman Nursing Scholarship

Amount: Full-time tuition cost

  • Entering, full-time freshman enrolled in nursing at time of application
  • Minimum GPA 3.0
  • Essay must include a personal statement regarding student's reason for choosing a nursing career and also must address financial need

Mary E. Moynihan Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

  • Entering FLCC directly into the Nursing program or entering from Pre-nursing for the following fall semester
  • Minimum GPA: 3.0
  • Use essay to demonstrate financial need and identify interest in nursing in one of the following rural areas: Allegany, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, or Yates county

PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

Lively Arts Council Theatre Arts Scholarship

Amount: $500

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Must be entering the FLCC Theatre Arts program

SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

G.W. Lisk Company, Inc. Excellence Scholarship

Amount: $2,500 (over two years)

  • Entering, full-time freshman at time of application
  • Graduate of Midlakes, Red Jacket, or Palmyra-Macedon high schools
  • Planning to study science, technology, pre-engineering, or health care field
  • High academic achiever

AWARDS WITH A PROCESS OUTSIDE OF THE FOUNDATION’S PROCESS

Students applying for the following must use the specific process outlined.

Clifton Springs Hospital RN Loan Forgiveness Program

Amount: Full tuition per year for two years

  • Established for entering, full-time freshman matriculated in the A.A.S. Nursing Program at FLCC
  • The hospital selects applicants through its own application and selection process.
  • Upon graduation, students are required to complete a two-year work commitment as registered nurses at Clifton Springs Hospital

FLCC Gemini Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 (up to 4)
Note: all applications for this scholarship are due April 1

  • High school seniors residing in Ontario, Wayne, Seneca, or Yates county
  • Minimum GPA: 80%
  • Submitted an application to enroll full-time at FLCC for the fall semester
  • Preference to students who have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of coursework in the Gemini program

The Finger Lakes Region Top 10% Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen. The deadline and application process differ from all other incoming freshman scholarships offered. Please review the criteria and closing date for eligibility carefully.
Amount: One-half of the cost of full-time FLCC tuition for up to two years

  • Freshman applicants who are not dependents of full-time FLCC employees and who have applied for admission and intending to enroll at FLCC as full-time students for the fall semester directly after graduating from high school
  • Must rank within the top 10% of their graduating class and maintained an overall high school average of 90 percent or better
  • Must submit a copy of SAT or ACT scores
  • Completed FLCC Application for Admission and FLCC Top 10% Scholarship Application forms must be submitted by April 1

The Raytec Group Excellence Scholarship

Amount: $2,900 ($1,450 – first year, $1,450 – second year)

  • The Raytec Group in Fishers, N.Y. awards this scholarship to a Victor High School graduate through the Dollars for Scholars program at Victor Central High School.
  • The recipient must demonstrate academic excellence, school, and community involvement, and have financial need. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required for second year renewal.

Thompson Health Nursing Scholarship

Amount: $1,000

  • Established by the Health System, this financial support is available for full-time incoming or second year students matriculated in the A.A.S. Nursing Program at FLCC.
  • A separate application must be completed and an interview may be required.
  • Immediately following graduation, students are required to complete a two-year full-time work commitment as registered nurses at Thompson Health.

Wayne Network Forgivable Loan Program for Nursing Students

Amount: Forgivable Loan covers a variety of expenses per each individual’s contract

  • Entering, full-time freshman matriculated in the A.A.S. Nursing Program at FLCC at time of application
  • Once accepted at FLCC, student is eligible to apply for this program by contacting the program chairperson in Wayne County
  • Immediately following graduation, students are required to complete a two-year full-time work commitment as registered nurses for a participating Wayne County employer
  • If the student does not graduate for any reason or does not work for a designated employer, he/she is required to pay back the full amount of the loan that was granted
