Finger Lakes Television Cable Channel 12 (FLTV) is the public access channel of the Finger Lakes area, serving Ontario, Wayne, Seneca and Yates counties. The channel is part of the Finger Lakes Time Warner cable system and is defined by the state Public Service Commission as a "PEG" channel, offering programs that are generated by the public, educational organizations or government entities.
FLTV was formed as a public service in the early 1990s through the initiative of the city of Canandaigua. Under a contract with the city, Finger Lakes Community College hosts and is an active participant in this regional public access channel, which furthers community communication and gives FLCC students real-world learning experiences.
Channel 12 airs locally produced programs, college-related educational programs and other shows of general interest, as well as a community bulletin board. Its staff is happy to provide information needed to produce your own show or instructions on how to get your event listed on the community bulletin board. There is no charge for airing a show, and the channel is free of any advertising or commercial interests.
