Use of Personal Digital Assistant Devices
Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices such as the Palm Pilot, Visor, etc. are increasing in popularity and availability. FLCC Institutional Computing Services (ICS) allows users to load appropriate synchronization software on their office computer systems enabling them to synchronize their PDA device with Exchange folders and other application software. Prior to loading the software, ICS asks that the user contact their usual ICS support person to verify system requirements. The acquisition, installation, version update, and software maintenance of such software is the responsibility of the user. In the event that you have difficulty with your PDA device and associated software, you may contact the ICS employee who maintains your office computer for advice. ICS cannot guarantee that your PDA software will be functional as we continually update our client, server, and network operating systems, and we strongly suggest that PDA users consistently communicate with their PDA software providers to ensure that they have loaded the latest compatible software updates for their PDAs. Additionally, since users who load PDA synchronization software are giving the software full permissions to all objects in their Exchange mailboxes and other applications, it is important for the user to recognize that the PDA synchronization software has the potential of creating loss of data for the user, and potentially for the college. ICS is not responsible to restore lost data due to PDA synchronization or corruption problems.
