Can I get a tour of The Suites at Laker Landing?

Please contact our office at least 24 hours in advance so we may accommodate your tour. We also afford tours to those attending Admissions Information Meetings; check with the Office of Admissions for meeting dates.

What is the deadline to apply?

There is no official deadline for application. However, availability will be offered on a first-come first-served basis, so it is important to apply as soon as you are able. Students who need housing are encouraged to apply by April.

I submitted my application; now what?

Please make sure you also submit your $275 Application Fee/Security Deposit; only once both are received will your application be processed. Availability will be offered on a first-come first-served basis beginning in early April.

What happens if I’m on the waitlist?

We will begin offering bed spaces in early April and will continue making offers the beginning of each month thereafter. If we are not able to offer you housing in a particular month you will be placed on the waitlist and an offer will be made the next month based on availability. Applicants will receive written monthly notice of their status. Being on the waitlist doesn’t mean you will not get housing, merely that we are unable to offer it to you that month. We typically exhaust our waitlist prior to opening. Status updates will NOT be given over the phone.

Is my deposit refundable?

The $200 Security Deposit portion of your initial deposit will be refunded if you choose to withdraw your housing application provided we have not first made an offer for housing. Applicants who decline an offer for housing are not eligible for a deposit refund. Please refer to the Application Fee/Security Deposit Policy for full details.

What if I get an apartment after I’ve already applied to live at the suites?

It is very important that you contact us as soon as you find other housing arrangements. If we haven’t already offered you housing, we will refund the $200 Security Deposit portion of your initial deposit. If we offer you housing and you decline because you have found other arrangements you are not eligible for a deposit refund.

Will Financial Aid pay for my housing?

It is very important that you financially plan for your stay with us. Your available aid will only be applied to your housing charge after tuition and college fees have been paid. Even though financial aid can be applied to your housing charge there is an upfront out of pocket cost before the start of each semester. Please refer to our billing schedule and call our office if you have further question.

I have medical housing needs?

If you are in need of specialized housing due to a disability please provide current documentation from an appropriate and qualified source (i.e. licensed primary care physician or psychologist) which confirms the disability and recommended accommodations. Requests need to be made in writing and received with signed License Agreement. We will make every effort to accommodate such requests, as space allows.

Can I choose who I want to live with?

Once you are offered housing, you will be sent a Preference Form and may specifically identify someone with whom you wish to be assigned. We will do our best to honor your request as space allows. Please note that both students must be offered housing AND request each other.

What’s the bed size?

Our beds are Standard Twin. (NOT extra long)

What should I bring?

Although your suite is furnished, residents are encouraged to personalize their rooms and make it a space they enjoy to be in. Cookware, bedding, towels, accessories and entertainment are things each student will want to bring. Although there is overhead lighting, students are welcome to bring additional desk or table lamps (no halogen lamps). The Rules and Regulations clearly list prohibited items and those which are in violation with NYS Fire Code.

Am I allowed to bring a car?

Parking is included in your cost for housing. Parking is by permit and available for residents only on the surface lot next to the residence hall. Residents must obtain a resident parking permit and properly display this permit in their vehicle. Parking is enforced.
