FLCC  /  MARVIN SANDS-CONSTELLATION BRANDS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER (MAC)

Since 1983 the Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center, an outdoor amphitheater on the campus of Finger Lakes Community College, has been host to a variety of events during the summer months. It has been the summer home of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the site of other musical performances. In addition to a full concert schedule, the facility has been used for College and community activities. The Finger Lakes Chorale and other FLCC musical groups present summer performances in the facility, and the College retains the services of the Rochester Broadway Theatre League as the promoter and programming agent for the summer performing series as well as for a variety of community events.

The performing arts center is currently under renovation to upgrade the facility and to expand seating from 2,700 to 5,000 seats under cover. Lawn seating will provide space for another 10,000 patrons. This is a result of a combined effort among Finger Lakes Community College, Ontario County and a private sector group, Friends of the Finger Lakes Performing Arts Center. The renovation project began in September 2005 and is due for completion in summer 2006. When completed, the state-of-the-art facility is expected to be an attractive venue for a variety of performing arts activities as well as a practical laboratory for some of the College’s educational programs. When work is finished, the facility will be rededicated as the Marvin Sands – Constellation Brands Performing Arts Center (MAC).
