Internships are short-term, structured, on-the job learning experiences designed to allow students to apply knowledge gained in the classroom to a real-world, professional work setting. Each student’s internship process and completion includes learning objectives, a faculty/internship sponsor and site supervisor.
An internship is different than a summer job or other part-time employment. Internships tend to be project oriented rather than task oriented. Internships are often related to a student’s field of study, and students may earn academic credit toward their degree.
